In Italy, Art Nouveau had a significant impact on architecture, design and the decorative arts.<\/p>\n<p>The movement behind Art Nouveau freed art from the restrictive chains of tradition, allowing architects to rediscover the joys of sinuous form, non-representational design, floral motifs and cutting-edge techniques (possibility of shaping glass, iron and metals, use cement&#8230;).<\/p>\n<p>It was a movement &#8220;permeating&#8221; all the arts: from the classical arts such as painting, drawing, graphics to the applied arts. Italian architects, and in particular Sicilian, Piedmontese and Lombard, were among the most passionate supporters of the new &#8220;free style&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, architecture underwent a real &#8220;Liberty&#8221; revolution with many artistic expressions distributed throughout the Bel Paese.<\/p>\n<h4>Liberty Style Architecture in Italy<\/h4>\n<p>In Italy examples of Liberty architecture are, starting from the capital <b>Rome<\/b>, the<span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b>Copped\u00e9 District<\/b><\/span> cwhich houses an eclectic group of villas and residential buildings designed by the Florentine architect <span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><em><b>Gino Copped\u00e8<\/b><\/em><\/span> at the beginning of the 20th century. The city, at the time in full economic and urban expansion, saw the construction of bold new buildings influenced by the emerging style at the beginning of the 20th century.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most suggestive is <span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b>Florio Nizza Home<\/b><\/span> (1901), designed by<span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b><em>Giuseppe Velati Bellini<\/em><\/b><\/span> and built as part of an urban renewal project in the heart of the city&#8217;s historic centre. A fascinating mix between French Neo-Gothic and Turin Liberty<span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b>Palazzo della Vittoria<\/b><\/span> (Victory Palace), also known as&#8221;<span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b><em>House of Dragons<\/em><\/b><\/span>&#8221; or Carrera Home, in the &#8220;Cit Turin&#8221; (Little Turin in piedmontese language) District. Designed by the engineer <span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><em><b>Gottardo Gussoni<\/b><\/em><\/span>, the five-storey building is a triumph of details attributable to the two styles. The Design of<span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b>Neumann Village<\/b><\/span> was assigned to <span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b><em>Pietro Fenoglio<\/em><\/b><\/span> that designed it in the Liberty Style. Inside today you will find a vintage station (the Turin \u2013 Rivoli), the Church of Santa Elisabetta in eclectic style, the old primary school and many other historic buildings in Art Nouveau style.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b><em>Pietro Fenoglio<\/em><\/b><\/span>, engineer, was the greatest interpreter of the new architecture in the first Italian capital. Many buildings were designed by the engineer Fenoglio, among which must obviously be mentioned: <span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b>Fenoglio \u2013 La Fleur Home<\/b><\/span> certainly one of the most important Art Nouveau buildings in Turin and throughout Italy which is immediately striking for the delightful floral friezes that cover the facade, the wrought iron balconies and the splendid polychrome glass window. We mention also <span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b>Villa Scott<\/b><\/span>, famous for being chosen by <span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b><em>Dario Argento<\/em><\/b><\/span> as the location of the famous horror film &#8220;<span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b>Profondo Rosso<\/b><\/span>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>SAlso in Turin (but there would be so many to mention &#8211; editor&#8217;s note) lastly, in the San Salvario area, we point out the beautiful <span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b>entrance door<\/b><\/span> that the people of Turin have nicknamed &#8220;<span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b>Pomegranates Door<\/b><\/span>&#8220;. During the early 1900s the entrepreneur Castiglioni<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/1solo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Milano-interno-scala-Palazzo-Castiglioni-Stile-Liberty.jpg\" alt=\"Castiglioni Palace, Art Nouveau expression, Turin, Liberty style in Milan\" width=\"380px\" align=\"right\" hspace=\"10px\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>he wanted something real to show his success and greatness. So he chose to have this Art Nouveau palace designed by the architect <span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b><em>Sommaruga<\/em><\/b><\/span>. Unfortunately the allegorical female statues (rather naked), the caryatids at the entrance were not included. The Milanese reacted with laughter: the house was nicknamed \u201cCa&#8217; di ciapp\u201d (the house of butss), the bum-house. In the end the statues were unfortunately removed (in the photo some details of the internal monumental staircase).<\/p>\n<p>There are also many expressions of the Art Nouveau style in Italy in public buildings; among these it is worth mentioning for Milan the <span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b>Civic Aquarium<\/b><\/span>, located in a beautiful Art Nouveau building in Sempione park, it is <span style=\"color: #2c2f7f;\"><b>one of the oldest aquariums in the world<\/b><\/span>. A spectacular transparent tunnel bridge allows visitors to pass under the main pool.
